Pierzynski's 'D' impresses Guillen

This weekend's Cubs-Sox series may lack some of its accustomed punch after the trade of Michael Barrett to the Padres on Wednesday.

The host White Sox, who reside in a tougher division than the Cubs, have been scuffling mightily this season. Last year's series at U.S. Cellular Field featured Barrett's one-punch greeting after A.J. Pierzynski bowled him over at home plate.

Sox manager Ozzie Guillen appreciates Barrett's competitive spirit and offensive skills as a catcher, but prefers the superior defensive contributions of Pierzynski, who also delivers occasional power.
